No Idle Hands

I’m not the gardening type and our back garden is a jungle most of the year. But I do take pride in the glorious roses the English weather produces with minimum care from me.

My most treasured plant in the garden, however, is the purple elder tree ‘Eva’, or Sambucus nigra. I love everything about it, the lush colour, the intricate lace of leaves, the pink flowers and the dark berries. The perfect backdrop for the bright coloured summer roses.
